You can't be a fan of Man vs Kitchen and not be a fan of Guy Fieri. After making a trip to Costco and purchasing a large pack of Nathan hot dogs I was craving some chili to top them off. Canned chili would have been a simple solution, but that's not how we do it at Man vs Kitchen. I needed to find a good recipe. So that is what I did, found Guy's recipe and add a little zing. If you like chili without the beans, then give this a shot. It's simple and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Margarine
  • 1 lb Ground Beef, 80/20
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Yellow Onions, minced (1 for chili & 1 for toppings)
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Allspice
  • 1/2 tsp Curry
  • 1/2 Cayenne Pepper (Spice it up by adding more)
  • 1 tsp Dry Mustard
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Hot Dogs
  • Hot Dog Buns

Directions

  1. Melt the margarine in a saute pan over medium head
  2. Add 1/2 of the minced onions and saute until translucent, do not brown
  3. Add chili powder, paprika, allspice, curry, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the onions
  4. Stir in the beef and cook for 5 minutes
  5. Add water and simmer for 30 minutes over low heat
  6. Fill a sauce pot with enough water to submerge the hot dogs and bring to a boil
  7. Add a pinch of salt to the water
  8. Turn down the heat and add the hot dogs, bring it to a simmer
  9. When the hot dogs begin to float, remove from pot
  10. Place your hot dog in the bun, add some chili, cheddar cheese and onions
